Effects of “Stress” on your health

Stress a situation that triggers a particular biological response. When you perceive a threat or a major challenge, chemicals and hormones surge throughout your body.

Stress triggers your fight-or-flight response in order to fight the stressor or run away from it. Typically, after the response occurs, your body should relax. Too much constant stress can have negative effects on your long-term health.

What are these effects and how they do so much bad to your body as well as your mind?

  • Weight Problems 

Stress can cause some people sudden weight gain or loss of weight. Everybody is different and craves for something when suffering from stress. Some doesn’t feel like eating or drinking at all and that causes weight loss and immense weakness to their body whereas some eats a lot and doesn’t like to move at all throughout their day and that will invite unnecessary extra pounds around their waistline.

  • Weakened immune system

Stress tamps down immunity. It’s also no surprise that depression hurts immunity; it’s also linked to other physical problems such as heart disease. Too much stress can be extremely stressful to body tissue to work properly and hurt the body’s ability to fight infections or Diseases.

  • Poor appetite

Loss of appetite means you don’t have the same desire to eat as you once used to. Signs of a decreased appetite include not wanting to eat, unintentional weight loss, and not feeling hungry. The idea of eating food may make you feel nauseous as if you might vomit after eating. Also, people tend to eat over and anything rubbish in stress due to unconsciousness of mind.

  • Cognitive changes

Yes! Too much stress can cause changes in your functioning of the mind. Like:-Memory loss or weak memory, Loss of concentration power, Slower word finding speed, Visual-spatial abilities and normal executive functions of the brain.

  • Ache and Pains

Muscle hold the stress at various locations in the body. Remember the last time you have stretched your shoulders wide and felt that amazing release of burden. That’s how stress lives in your muscle and flow in your veins.

  • Overwhelming Sadness

Your body responds to the way you think, feel, and act. This is one type of “mind/body connection.” When you are stressed, anxious, or upset, your body reacts in a way that might tell you that something isn’t right. For example, you might develop High blood pressure, Stomach ulcer, Clinical depression etc.

  • Emptiness or Hopelessness

Stress is good sometimes to take an extra push in your life to do the things that are good for you but too much stress can also leave you with nothing but emptiness, hopelessness and also sometimes regrets.
